Mr Babu Ram Bhattarai
I was born in a remote village of Nepal, where I completed my primary and secondary education. Soon after getting a Proficiency Certificate in Forestry in 1995, I began my professional career as a Junior National Park Ranger in Langtang National Park of Nepal. In 2002, I completed a BSc in Forestry, and then continued my conservation career in three protected areas of Nepal (Langtang, Shivapuri and Bardia National Park). During this five year period, I participated in a variety of conservation activities, such as habitat management, species conservation, conservation action plan preparation, conservation education in schools and rhino and tiger anti-poaching activities.
I am interested in large carnivore conservation (especially of the Bengal tiger) and protected area management. In attending the diploma course, I want to improve my skills in research design, data handling and analysis, and scientific writing skills, and to get a solid introduction in the use of modeling in wildlife conservation research.
