Ms Rannveig Magnusdottir

I completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Iceland in 2001 and my final project was a toxicology research (lysosome stability) on the Blue mussel (Mytilus edulis). Alongside the undergraduate studies I worked on the Mouse microphthalmia transcription factor (Mitf). After travelling in Australia I became fascinated with the Australian fauna and graduated with a Master of Science in 2005 from the University of Iceland in collaboration with Deakin University, Geelong, Australia. My research project was on dispersal and influence of rainfall on the small carnivorous marsupial Swamp antechinus (Antechinus minimus maritimus). I studied for 2 years at the Icelandic Film School and got a diploma in film making in 2007. My graduation film was a documentary on how climate change is affecting the puffin in the Westman Islands in Iceland.

I started my Ph.D. studies in 2008 and the project is on the American mink (Neovison vison) in the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland and how climate change seems to be affecting its diet. The project is a collaboration between the University of Iceland and WildCRU.
